What is a Degree Completion Program?

A Degree Completion Program at Brescia University offers a student who has some college already the opportunity to complete their degree with the convenience and flexibility offered through Brescia University online.  These programs are designed for students who wish to complete a major online, and who have already earned between 45 and 86 credit hours that will transfer to Brescia University.

Note: Transfer hours refers to credit hours from another school that are accepted by Brescia University and required for the major.

The following breakdown is intended to help guide you based on the number of transferrable college hours that you have earned at this point:

For students who have 32 but less than 45 transferrable credit hours:

If you have already completed some college, i.e. 32 – 45 credit hours, but have less than the minimum required 45 credit hours, you may still be accepted to Brescia and can begin taking your major subjects courses along with other GER courses offered by Brescia University.  However, you must earn at least 45 transferrable credit hours from another school or through CLEP exam before you will be fully accepted in the degree completion program.  To graduate, students must earn at least 42 total credit hours from Brescia and their final 30 credit hours must come from Brescia University.  The maximum number of credits that can be awarded from Brescia University is 64 credit hours.

For students who has 45 – 86 transferrable credit hours:

If you have already completed 45 – 86 credit hours that will transfer to Brescia University, then you are ready to apply for the degree completion program.   You may begin taking your major subjects along with other GER courses toward the 128 credit hours required for your degree. To graduate, students must earn at least 42 total credit hours from Brescia and their final 30 credit hours must come from Brescia University.   The maximum number of credits that are awarded from Brescia University in the degree completion program is 64 credit hours.  If you have less than 64 credit hours you will still need to take courses at another school or through CLEP exam and have them transfer to Brescia University.

For students who have no college or less than 30 transferrable credit hours:

If you have fewer than 30 credit hours that will transfer to Brescia University then your best course of action at this point would be to begin taking required courses at a school in your area.  A counselor can assist you in planning the courses you will need to take.  Once you have earned the minimum of 45 credit hours then you will be ready to be accepted into our degree program.
